On Saturday 12th November 2011 family and friends went on another of John & Diane's favourite walk's around Swinsty and Fewston Resevoirs lead by our chief leader David Brown. We all met at my house and put on our T shirts kindly donated by the Stroke Association. The weather was glorious and fortunately we were able to walk about in our T shirts which was really nice as everyone could see that we were walking for a good cause as well as pleasure. The day was really nice and if John would have loved been there. Some wore funny hats and others just acted silly on the day (you know who you are MARK!!!!) Also well done to all the younger generation who came some of whom hand only arrived home from their nite out 6 hours early (you know who you are MATTY HEZ and PAUL BROWN). Seriously you all did great and I was so proud of you all for coming along. We stopped for sandwiches and finished off with Drumstick lollies courtesy of Dave and Julie Hackett. After a lovely 3 and 3 quarter hour walk we made our way home (some with blisters and sore feet, some with sore hips!!!) for a much wanted shower. We all met up again in the Brown Cow a local pub along with lots of John's friends from Templenewsam Golf Club for a few (well maybe quite a few) and shared stories about John. There was lots of laughter and John would have loved it. He loved been with friends and family. We had a raffle which consisted of about 5 prizes, 4 of which my family won (and we had bought them) so a we had a lot of stick saying it was fixed but it was all in good fun. We raised £250 on the raffle which was really good. All in all it was a fantastic day with fantastic family and friends who have been amazing over the last 12 months and kept us all going. It was a wonderful tribute to John and he would have been so proud of you all. Thank you so much to everyone we love you all PS You can have rest of Nov and Dec off but get your boots polished for January 2011 - there is no escape
